Our Lead Chaplain

It is nearly two years ago Chaplaincy about Town went ‘live’ and we have been in our shop in Meadow Street for just over a year. It is amazing what we have achieved with so few resources! The main reason for this success is Prayer, another is our Volunteers. Our Volunteers are worth their weight in gold although they would blush at me saying so. Nearly thirty people give up sessions of their time each week in order for ChAt to offer its service to the town. |

All of our Volunteers apply for the position because they feel they have something to offer, they are interviewed and references are taken up. We choose to do an Enhanced CRB check on all the Volunteers as they are likely to be dealing with vulnerable adults and possibly children. We then train everyone in the basic skills of listening using resources from The Acorn Christian Healing Foundation. Some go on to further training in listening and all of this is FREE! The reason for putting this on the web site is twofold. Firstly to thank all those who have answered the call and become Volunteers with ChAt. We could not have done without you! Secondly, we need more of you! This is an appeal for more people to answer the call and become ChAt Volunteers. Our aim is to increase our numbers of Volunteers by forty during the next twelve months. Please get in touch using the details on the Contact page. We are happy to come to any Church, house group, youth group, WI meetings or any other large or small gathering to talk about ChAt, and its aims and objectives. We are not just after you or your money! The most important thing we need is your prayer. Pray for the work of the Volunteers; pray for the people who avail themselves of our services. Pray that the will of God is followed closely in the Weston-super-Mare Town Centre. Pop in to the shop at 67, Meadow Street and see us sometime. We are open 10:00am - 3:30pm Monday to Saturday. Revd.
